Altyre Estate Clubroom, Chapel & Gardens

5 September 2026

Built in the 1830s the Clubroom at Altyre Estate was designed in the Italianate style by Archibald Simpson after he went on a ‘grand tour’ of Italy. Recently refurbished, it is now the venue to unique, rustic and beautiful weddings, parties and events. The 200 year old wooden Kirk is one of only a few left in Scotland, with the charm and intimacy only possible from such a historic building. The extensive gardens at Altyre House will also be open this year. There will be teas and cakes, garden games, a piper, art from GSA and a nature hunt/walk. Join Altyre Estate for an unforgettable Doors Open Day and discover history, art, and nature in one inspiring visit!

Brodie Castle & Estate NTS

5 September 2026

Enjoy a rare opportunity to visit The Laird’s Wing, the 19th Century extension to the Castle where the last resident Laird, Ninian Brodie, lived until 2003. This beautiful annex of the Castle with its stunning drawing room and impressive dining room, is not part of the regular tour route and so visitors will be able to enjoy a unique view of the collection items, furniture and artwork housed within the Laird’s Wing. Visit the Playful Garden, home to Scotland’s biggest bunny. Enjoy the two cafes on site and children can explore the adventure playground. Brodie Castle is a gorgeous historical castle which dates back to the 1500's. The castle houses a magnificent collection of furniture, ceramics and artwork, including works by 17th-century Dutch masters. Please note, regular Castle access is not part of the Doors Open Day offer. There are also extensive Grounds with Victorian Shrubbery, pond, walks, photography trail, Rodney Stone, Pictish Stone and orienteering course.
