Enjoy a rare opportunity to visit The Laird’s Wing, where the last resident Laird, Ninian Brodie, lived until 2003.  Having been used as a holiday let until recently, this beautiful annex of the Castle with its stunning Drawing room and impressive dining room, is not part of our regular tour route and so visitors will be able to enjoy a unique view of the collection items, furniture and artwork housed within the Laird’s Wing.

The Laird’s Wing will be open for Doors Open Day for self-guided tours from 11-3pm.

Also available is an Adventure Playground and large grounds, including a pond and walks, which are always open. The Playful Garden is open from 10am – 4pm on Doors Open Day and is free of charge.

Please note, regular Castle access is not part of the Doors Open Day offer. The Castle will be open on the day as usual for self-guided visits 10.30am – 2pm (last entry 1.30pm) and Tours in the afternoon.

Please note: The Laird’s Wing is across 3 floors and is only accessible via multiple stairs and steps within the building. Due to the age of the building, there is no accessible access for The Laird’s Wing. 

• There are 3 wheelchair accessible toilets on site.
• Our Playful Garden and Café and Castle Café are accessible.
• Water bottles can be filled in both cafes.
• There is a £5 charge for parking (free for NTS members).
• Dogs are allowed on-site and in our Playful Garden and we request that they are kept on a short lead. However, they are not allowed in our Cafes or Historic Buildings.
• There is outdoor seating at both cafes. 
• Registered guide dogs are allowed access.
