Alexandria Library and Heritage Centre

Besides being an interesting building itself, this houses a permanent exhibition of the area's history focusing on the Textile Industry, often referred to as the "Turkey Red" dye that several of the many textile works used. The building itself is an important feature of social history in the Vale of Leven. It was built as an institute to guide young men.

Armed Forces Veterans Association Dumbarton

This Association is based on platform 2 of Dumbarton Central Station (of interest in its own right). Our main goal has always been to be able to provide help and support to veterans of all of HM Armed Forces and civil defence units and their families. We also work hard on being able to provide access to the stories of many veterans and the history of the armed forces and the local areas through our heritage centre. It is located in the historic Dumbarton Central Station.

Clydebank Library Museum and Heritage Centre

This fine building was partly funded by the Scottish-born American philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie. The architect was A. McInnes. It opened in 1913. You are invited to browse the museum at the lower level adjacent the archive section. This covers local history ranging from The Blitz to Singer Sewing machines and the shipbuilding industry.

Dumbarton Fire Station

This is an operational community fire station. Operational personnel will attend to visitors as operational demands permit. It is classed as a whole time On-call (RDS) station. This means that the station is crewed 24hrs a day by day / night shift crews on the first Rescue Pump, while the second pump is crewed by RDS personnel You will be able to see the vehicles equipment up close and meet those who protect us.

Dumbarton Football Club - The Rock

Founded on 23 December 1872, they are one of the oldest football clubs in Scotland. They were one of the most successful of the nineteenth century, winning the Scottish Football League in the first two seasons of the competition (the first jointly with Rangers). Dumbarton play their home games at The Rock. The 2,020 all seated stadium has been used since 2 December 2000. This must be at least one of the most dramatic settings for a stadium anywhere. It sits proudly at the confluence of the River Clyde and the River Leven overlooked by the mighty Dumbarton Rock with its Castle.

Dumbarton Library: Glencairn Greit House

This library is within the oldest building in West Dunbartonshire. Built in 1623 for the Dukes of Argyle, it became commercial premises for many years. It now reaches an exciting period in its existence. It reopened this year as the town's central library. The older front section has been restored, while extensive modern, yet complimentary facilities have been built at the rear overlooking the River Leven. These include a children's library within its own premises secure within a small enclosed garden space, display spaces and community areas.

Dumbarton Parish Church

This fine church epitomises Dumbarton. It stands as the exclamation mark at the head of the town's High Street. While rather plain from the exterior, the inside has some remarkable stained glass windows. Its congregation has recently combined with others. Until then it was known as the Riverside Parish Church.

Kilbowie St Andrews Church

Kilbowie St Andrews Parish Church on Melfort Avenue, Clydebank will have been a site of worship for 130 years in 2027. It is a crucifix design sanctuary with stained glass windows including memorial windows for the First and Second World War. Within the sanctuary is a memorial chapel to those who perished in the Clydebank Blitz. There are a number of artefacts from the Blitz, a memorial book detailing all those who lost their lives and artwork including a triptych depicting the Blitz from esteemed local artist Tom McKendrick and a stained glass window by Eilidh Keith dedicated to the victims. There will be a display of the memorial items. Members of the Church, including survivors of the Blitz, will be on hand to give tours and answer any questions.

Kilmaronock Old Kirk

Kilmaronock Old Kirk Trust has been set up in order to save the Grade-B listed classical building, preserve its long history of community use and enhance the building for today's and future generations of the Croftamie and Gartocharn Communities and a place of historic interest for the many visitors to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Lodge Leven St John 170, Renton

Properly called Lodge Leven St John 170, this is often referred to as the Renton Masonic Lodge. This red sandstone Masonic Lodge building looks austere from the outside, but has an absolutely fascinating history which is reflected in its interior. Built in 1893, the same year as Renton Parish Church next door, it exudes a confidence of the then flourishing area of Renton. This Masonic Lodge still has regular meetings.
