The Port House, Jedburgh

The Port House is three story Class A listed building in the Centre of Jedburgh and was built in the 1900 for the Jedburgh Co-operative Store. The Jedburgh Community Trust in 2010 purchased the building to rescue it from disuse and renovated it for town centre regeneration to provide commercial space for local enterprises. It presently is fully rented by three local business on three floors. Behind the Port House is also the Old Bakery which is presently being renovated into the Jethart Creative Quarter to create five professional art studios, an arts Library and a workspace for events and exhibitions.

The conversion of the Old Bakery into a new Creative Quarter in Jedburgh fits perfectly into the three themes. The Old Bakery was a place of making and now it is being revived once again in another place of making. This time it is an Art Centre, resisting closure of a building many people have fond memories of the smell of baked bread and now reimagining this space into another creative space of making.

There will be a poster and banner exhibition in the entrance of the Port House providing information about the building and the process of renovation. There may be a possibility to meet with the occupants of the commercial spaces. There will be an art exhibition on the top floor based on the Old Bakery being renovated into a new Creative Quarter. The exhibition will be based on the Theme: Revive, Resist, Reimagine, using the example of the Old Bakery renovation.

Saturday 5th September:

• Main opening is from 10am - 12:30pm, but Artaffect (top floor of Port House) will be open from 10am - 4:30pm. 
• Tour by Emma Berry (LDN Architects) of the Port House to present the architecture and renovation of the Port House.
• Information about the Jedburgh Community Trust, the charity who enabled the Port House Renovation will have a small exhibition in the Port House Entrance. 
• ABHealth (Ground floor) https://www.abhealthhub.com, Silver Liqueur Company (First floor)  https://www.silverliqueurcompany.com and Artaffect Studios and Gallery (second floor) https://www.artaffect.co.uk/ will be open to introduce their companies as the new occupants of the Port House. Artaffect will also be introducing the new renovation of the Bakery and the new occupants of this building as the Jethart Creative Quarter. 

Sunday 6th September:

Opening 10am to 12:30pm (top floor of the Port House) - Artaffect Studios and Gallery will be open to introduce the renovation of the Old Bakery and the creation of the Jethart Creative Quarter.
