Poynder Apartments is the transformation of the Former Kelso High School - a Category B Listed building of outstanding architectural interest into a state-of-the-art Extra Care housing development. The project faced the complex challenge of protecting and enhancing the character, integrity, and setting of the historic school whilst delivering 36 bespoke, affordable homes for older people. The design team embraced a “retain and respect” philosophy, preserving key architectural features such as the central and eastern towers, gymnasium elevations, and original Art Deco detailing.
The building is an operating extra care residence and as such there will be no access to the building, however there will be an opportunity to walk the grounds.
