The Islands Book Trust is inviting the public to a fascinating talk by archaeologist Ian McHardy exploring the possible sources of the Calanais Standing Stones.
Taking place at 11.00am on Saturday 5 September at Breasclete Community Centre, the event will be followed by a visit to one of the possible quarry sites.
Ian McHardy has lived and worked on Lewis for more than twenty years, leading commercial and research archaeology projects, including two years as the archaeologist for St Kilda. Passionate about making archaeology accessible, he believes local communities should have greater access to the discoveries made about their own landscapes. The event is free to attend, with donations to the Islands Book Trust welcome. Booking is not required.
