Braw Buildings 2019 30 trips for 30 years

Braw Buildings Brochure Front Cober 30 years of DOD

We're delighted to share that through a partnership with Hostelling Scotland, 30 funded trips for the Braw Buildings project have been awarded, in celebration of 30 years of Doors Open Days.

Braw Buildings is a joint project between Hostelling Scotland and Scottish Civic Trust. It aims to support young people and families from across Scotland to take part in Doors Open Days, explore a new area of Scotland and experience Hostelling.

All successful participants will receive a free two night stay including breakfast, in a private room, in a hostel of their choice during Doors Open Days. They will be able to visit as many Doors Open Days venues as they wish during their trip all for free!

With a range of unique and unusual venues taking part there’s sure to be lots to see, from Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where you can learn about the work of the court and try on some gowns, to a WWII Radar Bunker in Inverness, the beautiful Victorian Arlington baths in Glasgow, and even the Fire Station in Stirling.

Hostelling Scotland and the Scottish Civic Trust have funded young people aged 16 to 25, and families from across Scotland with those participating coming from Aberdeenshire to Dumfries and Galloway, from East Lothian to East Dunbartonshire and all places in between. The trips are to 6 youth hostels across Scotland with participants set to travel to Inverness, Stirling, Aberdeen, Pitlochry, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There’ll be just under 100 participants taking part in the project in total, which will be enjoyed by both young people aged 16 to 25, and families of all sizes. The trips will be taking place at the end of August and throughout September. We can't wait to hear all about their adventures!
