UNFORTUNATELY it will NOT be possible to view the night sky through the 137 year old Newtonian reflecting telescope as there is an issue with this part of the building, making it unsafe to access the observatory. The good news is that repair works are scheduled to begin in a few weeks and works should be completed in the New Year.
Doors Open Days visitors will still be welcome to visit as members of the Astronomical Society have prepared a digital presentation and potentially see views of the Moon and Saturn through telescopes in the hotel car park - weather permitting.

Unfortunately, there is no disabled access to the observatory, which is up a 90 step spiral staircase.
Please be aware, if parked in the car park, you must register your number plate at the hotel's reception.
