Bannockburn House Trust History Tours
Stirling
The Category A Listed Bannockburn House is now an active and ambitious community-owned heritage site and community-led conservation project. Alongside sharing the fascinating history with the public, we are working hard to conserve the historic fabric against the threats of climate change and a historic lack of maintenance. We are reviving local and national heritage, resisting that which threatens this value, and reimagining how we experience heritage and history. Our tours and talks as part of Doors Open Days explore these themes and the value of Bannockburn House to locals and to all of Scotland.
You can pre-book onto a history tour, which will last 30 minutes and will run every 45 minutes. Please use the booking link, in Key Information.
At 12:30 there will be a talk on the impacts of climate change on built heritage and how this community-owned heritage site is standing up to these threats. The talk will explore the risks heritage faces from climate change and lack of maintenance, with our Heritage Operations & Engagement Manager. Climate Change Talks don't need booking, but are first-come-first-served in the Dining Room which holds limited numbers.
Tea service available for a donation. Garden Tours and other events available for a donation, please follow the booking link and check social media for more information.
Facilities
Additional Access Information
Bannockburn House is undergoing conservation and restoration works. Floors are uneven, sturdy footwear is required. No high-heels or flip-flops will be permitted. The house can also get very chilly even in summer, please dress accordingly.
Limited Blue Badge parking is offered near the house on the drive. Due to emergency works and exclusion zone, current safe access is via the Woodland Walk on an uneven woodchip path to a pea gravel path and lawn at the back of house. A ramp into ground floor gives access to Wilson Wing. This means that although there is step-free access to a small part of the house, reaching it is challenging. While we are planning to expand our accessibility options, we are limited at present and apologise for any inconveniences. Please email us at admin@bannockburnhouse.scot for queries and arrangements.
