Located on Almada Street in Hamilton, the building was designed by D.G. Bannerman, Chief Architect to Lanark County Council, and officially opened by HRH The Queen Mother in 1964. Its striking modernist design, inspired by the United Nations Headquarters in New York, includes a prominent office tower and a distinctive circular Council Chamber. Today, the Category A listed building serves as the headquarters of South Lanarkshire Council and remains a well-known landmark, playing a central role in local government and civic life across the area.
