This event is happening the weekend after the South Lanarkshire dates.
The 113th Scouts started in 1907 initially meeting in a cellar of a house in Peveril Avenue before moving to the club house of the old original Blairbeth Golf Course and then to their own hall, facilitated by the late Laird of Castlemilk.
For Doors Open Days there will be a display showing the 115 years of the 113th Scouts featuring in the Rutherglen Reformer, highlighting key moments in each decade since our first mention in the local newspaper in 1911. We have captured digital images of almost every reference to the 113th scouts from the Rutherglen Reformer- a total of over 2,500 articles, adverts and features. We hope our current generation of young people will revive through stories of their forebears in the movement, but also by engaging them in the project, help them to re-imagine how local news is shaped in the years to come.
There will an opportunity to enjoy coffee and homebaking.
