This venue is no longer taking part. Shetland Amenity Trust is a charity with the mission to safeguard, enhance, and promote Shetland's heritage, ensuring it is accessible to be enjoyed by all. We deliver a wide range of initiatives to protect and interpret Shetland's heritage, promoting both physical and intellectual access. We operate public sites at Sumburgh Head, Lighthouse, Nature Reserve & Visitor Centre, Old Scatness Broch & Iron Age Village, Shetland Museum & Archives and the Shetland Crofthouse Museum, and the Trust’s main office at Garthspool, Lerwick, located in a renovated ice factory, is headquarters of the Trust’s natural and cultural heritage teams.

Lerwick Cemetery - Commonwealth War Graves Commission Tour

The Commonwealth War Grave Commission commemorates Commonwealth personnel who died during the First and Second World Wars. There are 235 burials in cemeteries throughout Shetland. Of these, 119 are in Lerwick New Cemetery.

Quendale Water Mill

The Quendale Estate dates back to the 16th Century but it wasn’t until 1770 that the Grierson family acquired it and became the Lairds. The Mill was commisioned to be built in 1867 by the Grierson family and grinding began at the Mill the following year.
