Ropemakers Building and Horners Plot

Ropemakers events venue sits on Ropemakers Close, one of ‘Perth’s Little Streets’. The Blackbird Garden, a peaceful biodiverse space, and Horners Plot, adjacent to the building add to the countryside feel in an urban setting.
Our building sits in one of the old Perth Vennels and we are eager to raise awareness of the heritage. We have produced a historical information board which highlights the former life of Ropey Close.
Inside Ropemakers Venue we will have photographs of the building before and after transformation. And the information boards outside the building will illustrate the considerable heritage associated with Ropemakers Close.
For Doors Open Days there will be an exhibition of old photographs and literature, including works of William Soutar whose poem ‘Backlands’ is featured on our information boards. This will illustrate the considerable heritage associated with Ropemakers Close.
