Carpow: Scotland's Forgotten Roman Fortress (Talk)

Perth & Kinross

In Person

In this talk, hosted by the Museum of Abernethy, Dr Andrew Tibbs (University of Durham) will explore the archaeology and history of the fortress at Carpow, one of the most intriguing but understudied Roman sites in Scotland. We will look at why the Emperor himself led the expedition to crush the native tribes, why the fortress was strategically positioned overlooking the Tay and next to the River Earn, and we'll look at what archaeologists know about the site and what secrets remain to be discovered.

The Museum of Abernethy will also have some locally found, and replica Roman Artefacts on display.
