The Auchterarder Picturehouse is an Art Deco / Art Nouveau style purpose-built former cinema from 1926. It's a B-listed building retaining some unique features such as the Grand staircase in the foyer and the vaulted tin ceiling in the main auditorium. It closed in 1962 and has largely been left without modifications to the main structure since (seats and equipment were removed). There are plans for its restoration, and Doors Open Days 2023 offers an opportunity to see the original building before any restoration begins.
You will get a chance to imagine the Roaring Twenties and the Golden Age of Hollywood, but also see the plans for bringing the building back to life with a renewed purpose for the community and beyond.
