In Person

5 Atholl Crescent, Perth is the central property of a crescent of houses built in the 1790s. The architect of Atholl Crescent is traditionally held to have been Sir Robert Reid. The building served as a family residence until 1923 before being a Nurses' Club and - between 1933 and 2025 - a masonic lodge. After over a hundred years, the building is being restored to a house.

Visitors will see the ground floor of the 1790s building, and the 1932 former masonic hall. Murals, conceived and executed by Thomas Hutchison Peddie - a Perth-born artist and illustrator – will be on display in the hall. There will be a temporary exhibition to commemorate the 900th anniversary of St John’s Kirk of Perth.

Visitors will be encouraged to leave by the back door onto Blackfriars Street.
