BBC Radio Orkney

Orkney

In Person

BBC Radio Orkney is the county’s community radio station – broadcasting half an hour of news and features every weekday morning, and a popular Friday Requests programme through the year. In addition, we have a range of hour long evening programmes each weeknight from the beginning of October until the end of March. You can hear us on 93.7FM, BBC Sounds, or on demand via our Mixcloud page.

Our broadcast studio has a mixing desk that used to be used by the superstars of BBC Radio 2. We have an in-house record library and tape archive. Because our building used to be a bank there is a (locked) safe, and the back garden used to be Kirkwall’s slaughter house.

Guided tours around the building which last approximately 45 minutes.

Please note the broadcast studio and production office are upstairs (21 steps). There is no lift access.

Tours at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.
