Inverclyde Heritage Network exists to share information about Inverclyde’s rich and varied history with individuals and groups and to preserve it for future generations.

The Old West Kirk was built in 1591 on a site 0.7 miles to the east of its present site and moved to the Esplanade in the 1920s. This privately owned church is a must see with its history and stained class window collection. The Old West Kirk was built in 1591 in the centre of Greenock and is a Category A listed building. One hundred years ago the building was moved stone by stone from its original site to the present one on the Esplanade. It has various galleries and a separate entrance for the local laird and his family. It also has a priceless collection of stained glass windows. Being the original parish church of Greenock, and one of the first built after the Reformation of 1560, the history of the building reflects the growth and development of the town and Burgh of Greenock, and its importance on world stage in the mid-Victorian and early 20^th century.

Members of Inverclyde Heritage Network will be in the church to meet visitors. Throughout the day the volunteers will tell the story of the history of the church, the stained-glass windows, and answer any questions. 

There will be two talks about the history of the church. The first at 11:45am and the second at 2pm.
