Highland – Inverness, Black Isle, Easter Ross, Ross & Cromarty
Take a virtual journey through the Inchidown Oil tanks and their importance to Invergordon and the rest of the UK through the 1st, 2nd world war and beyond. Learn how they linked to the other tank farms that were of strategic importance through both wars. How they have been saved from the bulldozer and what they have been used for more recently, including a marriage venue, music venue and having the accolade of the longest echo in the world. This will be merged with the story of Invergordon and its rich heritage through time.
The museum looks at the towns heritage from the Bouchardon Bust, early local industry, to becoming a strategic naval port, the whisky industry, oil rigs and how it is reimagined today, as a place for cruise liners, whisky and the transition to new green energy, amongst other things. A place that retains its heritage, is proud to share it but embrace what the future holds. The museum and heritage centre provides a hub for the local community groups to meet and for visitors to learn our rich history and future ambitions.

- There are three blue badge parking spaces at the museum.
- The building is all on one floor and has easy access for wheelchairs.
- There are plenty of chairs placed around the building for folk to sit.
- Within the museum there are tables and chairs for people to sit and read.
