Since 1971, the Wick Society has striven to protect and promote Wick's history. Today the Wick Society has under its wing Wick Heritage Museum, traditional Fifie fishing vessel the Isabella Fortuna, the Johnston Collection, and Wick Voices, an oral history project. 

Cowie’s Buildings is adjacent to Wick Heritage Museum and was recently renovated by the Wick Society to house the Society’s collections not on display in the Museum. This Doors Open Day, visitors can explore ‘behind the scenes’ and see the cataloguing process in action and enjoy an exhibition of artefacts not normally accessible to the public.
