On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of September, Govan Old will be holding a Mini Viking-Age Festival.
The event will be a celebration of a year of archaeological investigations into Govan Old's ancient graveyard.
Fun family-friendly activities and crafting activities for visitors of all ages.
We will also have a fantastic range of displays and artefacts showcased by the living history/re-enactment group Cumberland, who specialise in the Viking-Age Kingdom of Strathclyde.
Every day at 12:30 there will be a short tour of the graveyard by our staff and volunteers discussing the site’s origins, developments, symbols and archaeological discoveries.

Renovations at Govan Old Church are underway to ensure Govan Old Church will be, for the first time, fully accessible.
At present, the church entrance has 5 steps, with a mobile ramp on site to assist when required. Our team are happy to assist with venue entry and exit with advance notice of your visit. If mobility support would be beneficial for you during your visit, we invite you to contact the Govan Old team in advance, at info@thegovanstones.org.uk.
Throughout renovation works, temporary toilet facilities will be in operation inside the venue. We regret to inform that these temporary facilities do not currently support wheelchairs.
