Glasgow
Our Maltings Tour is a rare glimpse into the malting process, and oft-forgotten but super important part of single malt production.
Exclusively running for Glasgow Doors Open Days, the tour brings visitors into our staff-only production courtyard, taking in the former farm buildings, grain intake, barley storage, and getting up close with our impressive drum maltings - one of vanishingly few still onsite at any Scotch whisky distillery.
Our drop-in exhibition, "Snapshots of Jackton", gives visitors an insight into the story and people behind the creation and past lives of Jackton Distillery, featuring photography from each year of the renovation process alongside exclusive written commentary from the family who made it happen.
This exhibition opens to the public for the first time exclusively for Glasgow Doors Open Days 2026.
Facilities
Additional Access Information
Almost all of the of the tour is wheelchair accessible. There is a small incline leading up to the door to the malting drums. This means that guests using wheelchairs are able to access the malting plant.
However, the tour will also briefly visit the Maltings office and vibrating sieve, which are accessed via a different door, and there is one step up to the door leading to this area of the site. This part of the tour lasts approximately 5 minutes. We will provide photography and additional explanations to any guest who is unable to view this area of the site due to the lack of step-free access.
In addition, there are some areas of uneven terrain on the tour.
The tour will be run in a quiet area of the site that is suitable for guests with sensory sensitivities and the machines will not be running during the tour.
Large print tour scripts will be provided for guests who are hard of hearing.
