Thomas Peck Hunter, VC, RM / RM 43 Commando Memorial Cairn.

Corporal Thomas Peck Hunter, VC, RM 43 Commando, was 21 years old when he was killed on 03-Apr-1945 by drawing enemy fire onto himself to protect & save his Troop comrades during “Operation Roast” WW2 Battle at Lake Comacchio, North Italy. Cpl Thomas P. Hunter is buried at Argenta Gap Military Cemetery, maintained by Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, North Italy.  Cpl Thomas P. Hunter was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross (VC) for his supreme sacrifice & valour in the face of the enemy.  King George VI presented his VC to his parents at a private investiture, Palace of Holyroodhouse, September 1945.  Thomas P. Hunter attended Stenhouse Primary & Tynecastle High schools.

1/8 – 10:00 to 10:30hrs ; 2/8 – 10:45 to 11:15hrs ; 
3/8 – 11:30 to 12noon ; 4/8 – 12:15 to 12:45hrs ; 
5/8 – 13:00 to 13:30hrs ; 6/8 – 13:45 to 14:15hrs ; 
7/8 – 14:30 to 15:00hrs ; & 8/8 – 15:15 to 15:45hrs.
