The Corstorphine Astoria Centre

At the end of 2017, The Corstorphine Trust took a long term lease of the Kirk Loan Hall from The Old Parish Church. It has been renamed The Corstorphine Astoria Centre and is the new home of the 2/4 Ingram organ that was used in the Astoria Cinema (now the site of Iceland, Manse Road) until its demolition in the mid-1970s.
The Trust have undertaken to restore the Ingram to its former glory. In the meantime, the hall has been fully refurbished. The Ingram is the smallest theatre organ in the UK and the last of its kind in the WORLD!
Built towards the end of the 1920s, the organ is the last remaining cinema organ created by organ builders Ingram & Co of Edinburgh. During the early 2000s, The Trust managed to track down and purchase the various components that make up the organ (which were dotted all over the UK!). These were all taken to Barnsley, Yorkshire, where they were painstakingly refurbished and then returned to Corstorphine in the summer of 2019. The building the organ is housed in is now its permanent home. We wanted to provide a facility in the heart of Corstorphine that can be used and enjoyed by the local community.
Come and hear the magnificent Ingram Organ being put through its paces. Our fantastic volunteers will be available to answer any questions and show the behind the scenes workings of the organ at various times throughout the opening hours.
