St Michael’s Parish Church

We are a Church of Scotland church on Slateford Road in Edinburgh and have served the local community since 1883. It is one of celebrated Scottish Victorian and Edwardian architect John Honeyman’s most notable buildings. The tower rises 130ft over Slateford. The nave, which is 130ft long, has reputedly the longest aisle in Edinburgh. St Michael’s possesses a striking reredos bearing hand-painted illuminated scripts announcing the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, the Beatitudes and the Apostle’s Creed. The church is also blessed with a number of fine stained glass windows.

• The church sanctuary will be open for the general public to access. 
• There will be information sheets available giving a short history of the building.  This will also include information on several interesting features within the sanctuary, for example, the stained glass windows, the organ and the pulpit and lectern art work.
• Volunteers will be available throughout the day to offer further information as required.

Please note Sunday worship takes place between 11.00 – 12.00. You are welcome to join us for worship.

Impact Arts is an award-winning community arts charity, established in 1994, which provides art programmes for people of all ages across Central Scotland. They specialise in using the arts to tackle inequalities, improve health and, as a way to excite, involve and create meaningful impacts for the people and communities they work with

St Michael’s Church has an Environment Scotland category A listing both external and internal. We are currently under serious threat of closure by the Church of Scotland and Edinburgh and West Lothian Presbytery. We are desperately trying to keep this beautiful building open so that we can continue to serve the community in which we are located.

• Wheelchair accessible building - Ramp is located at the side of the church hall. Enter via the driveway.
• Water bottles can be filled up from the kitchen.
