Situated in the heart of Edinburgh the National Library of Scotland is the country’s largest library. Within its collections of millions of items one can view books, manuscripts, newspapers, maps, films and many other formats, from Scotland and beyond.

Activities

  • Shorter behind the scenes trips to work areas (digitisation, stack floors).
  • Conservation workshop tours for families with children.

Our guided tours will take you through parts of the Library that are not usually open to the public. Learn about our building's history, discover hidden spaces like the towering, book-laden stacks, and go behind the scenes at Scotland's largest library.

Tours will be held between 10am and 4pm on Sunday - please note booking is required via the links below:
