Edinburgh

In Person

The National Library of Scotland’s Causewayside Building is an iconic piece of modern architecture. It provides safe storage for the Library’s collections and supports a wide range of activities by library staff including processing new material, digitising collections, conservation and access to the Library’s map collections.

Events at National Library Scotland Causewayside:

Games and Crafts: Drop-in games and craft activities for all ages. Try your hand at interpreting old hand writing or take on your friends at Library Snakes and Ladders.

Map Display: View our map display You Are Here. You are Here poses questions such as: do all maps show real places? Do maps go out-of-date? How is the spherical world made flat? Why is north to the top?

Guided Tours: Guided behind the scenes tours must be pre-booked. Bookings and a full list of National Library Doors Open Day events in Edinburgh and Glasgow can be found here.
