Magdalen Chapel
Edinburgh
In Person
The Chapel, one of Edinburgh's oldest buildings, opened in 1541 as a RC Chapel. After the Reformation , the Chapel had a rich ecclesiastical history. There are associations with the new Reformed Church, the Covenanters, the Baptists and Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society. The features and furnishings of the Chapel are heavily influenced by the Incorporation of Hammermen, who occupied the Chapel for 300 years. Few buildings have such a rich social history.
For Doors Open Days there will be talks on the history of the chapel on the hour from 11am.
