Edinburgh Printmakers is a creative centre for printmaking and the visual arts in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh. In addition to its printmaking studio, exhibitions, shop, café, and print archive dating back to the 1960s, the building has a rich industrial history as the Castle Silk Mills, the North British Rubber Company, and Scottish and Newcastle Breweries.

Edinburgh Printmakers’ home in Castle Mills is a renovated industrial building, previously home to the Castle Silk Mills, North British Rubber Company, and Fountain Brewery. The space, which was left derelict in the early 2000s, was revived by Edinburgh Printmakers and the local community to be a thriving arts and cultural hub. The local community resisted the demolition of the building as the entire area of Fountainbridge was planned to be redeveloped, and Castle Mills remains the last remnant of that industrial history in the area. Over the past 7 years of Edinburgh Printmakers’ occupying the space, the organisation has reimagined what’s possible with regards to heritage engagement, developing numerous funded projects to investigate and celebrate the tangible and intangible heritage of the site and the organisation.

For Doors Open Days there will be tours at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on each day.
