City of Edinburgh Council, Inch Plant Nursery
Edinburgh
Inch Plant Nursery is located within the stunning Inch Park on the Southside of Edinburgh. The 3/4 of an acre glasshouse is nestled within the walls of the historic kitchen garden which was once part of original Inch House estate.
The nursery grows and supplies plant material for the beautiful greenspaces in Edinburgh, the world famous floral clock and has an on-site plant shop open to the public. The nursery supports friends and community groups city wide and supports local food pantries with vegetables grown by volunteers in the community walled garden.
As one of the few remaining local authority plant nurseries in Scotland this is a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of a working plant nursery and to learn gardening tips from professional growers.
For Doors Open Days there will be:
- a children's potting and seed sowing station
- photoboards showing the history and work activities of the nursery
- plant propagation demonstrations
- guided tours through Inch Plant Nursery and the Community Walled Garden
Tours at 10:30am and 12:30pm - please meet outside the glasshouse.
