This prominent monument on the slopes of Calton Hill commemorates poet Robert Burns. Monuments in this style were built in ancient Athens to celebrate the poetic arts, and was designed by Thomas Hamilton to house a statue of the bard by sculptor John Flaxman.
The Monument and grounds will be open and visitors can access the inside of the Monument. EDBCA members and their guests will provide information about the Monument and will perform songs, music and poems from Robert Burns throughout the 2 days. The venue is small and can hold 15-20 visitors. A small performance area is required for the musicians.
EDBCA members will be onsite to provide information about the Monument and the life and works of Robert Burns.

Additional Access Information
The venue is 10 minutes walk east from Edinburgh Waverley train station and there are bus stops close by. Access is possible but difficult. The path to the Monument is a short gravel path on a gradient with 2 steps into the Monument. Limited parking on Regent Road adjacent to the Monument, but free on both days. The events are inclusive and children are welcome.
