Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church

Our church welcomes visitors with an opportunity to walk around the sanctuary, watch an exhibition of slides on our AV screens and listen to live music. There will be a children’s craft table. Refreshments will be available and stewards will be on hand to assist and answer questions.

Opened for worship in 1824, as part of Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town, Broughton St Mary’s is a distinctive landmark on the city skyline. Among the church’s most striking features are the stained glass windows, the attractive panelling around the front of the gallery, and the pulpit, said to be one of the highest in Scotland. The fine Lewis organ dates from 1882. Recently refurbished, the church celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2024.

Accessible toilets on lower level. Enter via lane on north side of the building. The church can be accessed by a lift from the lower floor. Enter via lane on north side. Toilets on both levels. Lower level toilets include disabled toilets and baby changing facilities. Limited on street parking, free on Saturdays.
