Benjamin Tindall Architects @ 17 Victoria Terrace

New

27 September 2026 (10:30 - 16:30)

Edinburgh

In Person
2026 Theme

At first sight, with its white harled walls and flat felt roof, 17-18 Victoria Terrace does not look like a particularly old or interesting building, it looks rather industrial. The odd angles and unusual floor levels give clues it has been much changed. Sitting on the Castle slope, with a steep fall in the ground, it is four stories high with fabulous south facing views over the Grass Market to the principal elevations of Greyfriars Kirk, the old Royal Infirmary, Heriots school and across to Edinburgh college of Art further west. The building has a rich history before being converted into our offices in 1989.

For Doors Open Days we will be holding talks on Patina -

THE IMPORTANCE OF PATINA

What is it? Why does it matter? How can it be conserved? How is it applicable to Contemporary design? What do we do with this?

Talks on the hour: 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm

Guests are free to explore the building after the talk.
