Edinburgh
Ashfield, the Edinburgh Trades Fund building, houses a collection of artfeacts pertaining to the ancient Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh. There were the artisan classes invovled in the governance of the city and it's development over centuries. This was initially centered within the Old Town, but then they were highly influential in the development of the Edinburgh New Town. Our charity has been helping young people since 1704.
Our building tells the story of the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh using the artefacts housed inside, giving an insight into how people lived and work. Through this it brings to life the importance of the artisan craftsmen's trades and their contribution to the development of the City.
For Doors Open Days there will be guided tours and information displays.
