Cupar Museum & Heritage Centre

Cupar Museum and Heritage Centre has occupied the former Station Cottage at Cupar Railway Station since 2012. Cupar Heritage, a voluntary organisation, transformed the space into a small museum and work area for the benefit of the local community who wished for a museum for many years.
The Railway Station opened in 1847 and is a fine example of railway architecture of the Victorian era and the sympathetic conversion retains much of the charm of the Victorian era .
The museum volunteers offer a welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly experience, and we take pride in exhibiting items with a strong connection to Cupar, the former County Town of Fife.
The Museum has exhibitions of items and stories closely allied to Cupar's history and on display for Doors Open Days are:-
"Four Paintings, a Scandal and an Angel " - Exploring the life and work of 19th-century Scottish artist Charles Lees, in association with the RSA200 bicentenary celebrations.
"The Early Days of Elmwood College" - Highlighting the College's origins and its pioneering agricultural courses from the late 1940s.
"Cupar's Sugar Factory" - Marking the Centenary of the opening of Cupar's sugar beet factory.
"James Wilson, Fife born Founding Father" born on Carskerdo Farm, educated at Cupar and St Andrews and signatory of the American Declaration of Independence.
Travel to the Museum on public transport is straightforward as the Station is on the main Edinburgh – Dundee line, while bus stops are conveniently located on Station Road with regular services to and from the town.
