Auld Kirk Museum: A walk to the Foundry Collection Store

East Dunbartonshire

In Person

The Auld Kirk was built in 1644 as a replacement for the old parish church of St Ninian’s at the Old Aisle. Burials around the Auld Kirk continued until the middle of the nineteenth century. The building and graveyard are Grade A listed and together form one of the finest and oldest sites in the town of Kirkintilloch. The museum housed within this building has a variety of objects primarily related to the social and industrial history of East Dunbartonshire, as well as a varied programme of temporary exhibitions.

Meeting at the Auld Kirk Museum, this walk will depart at 10.30am and take a circuitous route to our Foundry Collection store on Donaldson Crescent. The route will take in several examples of locally made ironwork on the way and participants will then have the chance to visit the collections store to see objects used at the foundries as well as photographs.
