St Mary’s was built in 1858, designed by George Gilbert Scott in the Victorian Gothic style. The reredos, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, is an important example of the Scottish Arts and Crafts movement. In 2018 a major re-ordering of the building began to make the nave into a multi-purpose community space accommodating both worship and community activities including concerts, meetings, book launches, craft fairs and blood donor sessions.

For Doors Open Days there will a self-guided tour of the building to view the various features - some very interesting stained-glass windows and a wonderful reredos. In addition to interpretive material, there will be people available to answer questions most of the time. There will also be a 'seek and find' quiz for children.

Visitors are welcome at the Eucharist service at 11am on Sunday 27th.
