Kirkmaiden Old Kirk is an early 17th century foundation, constructed in the simple vernacular style of the period. A crypt and vestry were added 60 years later. The building is surrounded by an historical burial ground featuring a range of original and distinctive headstones attracting tourists, artists and families researching their ancestry. Within the church there are artefacts of historical interest. Then to add further intrigue, the Old Kirk features in a host of local legends.
For Doors Open Days there will be graveyard tours at regular intervals throughout each day.
