Cruck Cottage

Cruck Cottage is an atmospheric 18th century thatched cottage, the last remaining example of this type of home in South West Scotland. Inside you can discover what it was once like to live in a Scottish village and explore social and rural history, folklore, and traditions.
Come along to meet our knowledgable volunteers to find out more about the construction, restoration and history of the cottage. Discover the everyday folklore found around the house and see if you can guess what some of the more unusual collections were used for.
Facilities
Additional Access Information
The drive is a short incline with cobbles and grass. You are welcome to carefully drop off people at the door, but please move your car back to the roadside afterwards.
The cottage has level access with an earth floor.
