Methil Heritage Centre contains displays capturing the history of Methil and surrounding area, from prehistoric times to the present day and is situated in the old Edward VIII Post Office on what was once the bustling high street. Inside the red sandstone building is our permanent exhibition "Levenmouth Lives" which captures the history of Methil and surrounding area, from prehistoric times to the present day.
Take a walk down school lane and see if you recognise any of those previous classmates. We will have a mixture of class photos on display from the local Levenmouth schools and hope to expand our records and capture more details and your memories of those school days. Along with images of the schools, some of which have since been demolished, from the Rankin Archive.
The Centre maintains an extensive archive, in collaboration with the volunteer group Friends of Methil Heritage, which will be available for enquiries and research, and there will be an activity table for the youngsters with colouring sheets, puzzles and games. Also, perfect time to have a cuppa and a chat about the local area..
Keep checking our site for more details as they’re announced! Methil Heritage Centre reopened in April 2024 supported by Fife Council’s Levenmouth Area Committee Community Renewal fund, OnFife and Creative Scotland.
