STOP PRESS : Following the success of last year's archaeological investigation of the Green at Leslie a second season of work has been supported by the Lottery Heritage Fund and is open for volunteers from the public to participate.

----------

It is believed a church has stood on this site since the 10thC and the old name for Leslie, of Fettykil, is possibly derived from the Gaelic for ‘wooden church’.

Join one of  our guided tours of its ancient burial ground where remnants of the mediaeval church may still survive as part of the Douglas and Rothes mausoleums, and hear the stories of the historic buildings that surround Leslie’s ancient green.

GRAVEYARD TOURS will start at regular intervals (times as below) at the Bull Stone and finish at Leslie Town Hall (also a DOD venue) where refreshment and facilities are available.

Saturday 12th September  -  1230, 1330, 1430

Sunday   13th September  -  1230, 1330, 1430

COMMUNITY EXCAVATION  will run over five days, starting on Thursday 10th to conclude on Monday 14th, and will be open for volunteers to participate on a daily basis.  Equipment and tuition will be provided but please come appropriately dressed.
