Stair Parish Church, Mauchline

The present Church was constructed in 1864 and houses an active congregation which is gathered from the parish and from further afield.
For Doors Open Days various historical artefacts, documents and photographs relating to the life of our Church and parish will be on display. Church members will be on hand to provide commentaries and to answer questions. Visitors will be encouraged to explore our building to view items such as the war memorial, the rose window with original drawings, and others.
Our displays reflect the changing economies of our parish, industrialisation bringing coal and hone mining for some decades to what was, and is again, predominantly a farming community. Some of the ravages of war will be on display and Remembrance Sunday is still a poignant occasion in the life of Stair Church. A publication on the surrounding community and the Church will be for sale on the day.
