The Town & County Hall is situated right in the heart of Forfar and was erected in 1787-1788. The old market cross once stood in front of the Town House, until it was removed in 1785 to Castle Hill.

During Doors Open Days, guided tours of the building will take place on the hour from 10am to 3pm, when visitors can see the building’s stained glass windows, designed by Russell of the Dundee School of Art and erected in 195, a Grandfather Clock by Brysons of London, a collection of portraits of influential people by renowned painters, and a bust of Dr John Wyllie sculpted by Thorwaldsen, the great Danish sculptor.

Guided tours at 10am, 11am, 12 noon, 2pm and 3pm. Please email drosselk@angus.gov.uk to book.
