Number 30, The Square, Huntly
Aberdeenshire
Located in the heart of Huntly, Number 30 sits within the town square, a place that has been central to community life for centuries. Once a bustling hub for gatherings, events and daily life, the square has seen both prosperity and challenge in recent years as changing habits and economic shifts have impacted the town centre.
Now revitalised for the 21st century, Number 30 offers a vibrant multi-use space for learning, leisure, enterprise and connection—reinvigorating the square as a place for all and helping to shape a confident future for Huntly.
Originally built in 1875 as Cruickshanks shop, the building expanded over time into a large department store of more than 1,250 square metres across two and a half floors, trading successfully for over 140 years until its closure in 2018. In 2019, Huntly Development Trust secured funding through the Aberdeenshire Town Centre Fund to bring the building into community ownership and transform it into the facility seen today.
