Standing in the heart of the Royal Burgh of Kintore, Kintore Town House is one of Aberdeenshire’s most important civic buildings. Completed in 1747 to a design by renowned architect John Adam, the Category A listed building is notable for its distinctive T-plan form, impressive external forestair and original clock tower.
Throughout its history, the Town House has played a central role in community life. It served as the town’s courthouse and jail, hosted council meetings and, more recently, provided a home for a local radio studio. Although currently unused, a local community group is working to secure its future through a programme of renovation and restoration that will bring the building back into active community use.
During Doors Open Days, visitors will have the opportunity to explore this remarkable historic building and learn more about its past, its architectural significance and the exciting plans for its future.
