**NEW FOR 2026**

Built in 1776, Cruden Parish Church marks the 250th anniversary of its current building this year. Its history, however, stretches back much further, with a rich and sometimes quirky local heritage.

Visitors can discover the story of St Olaf, the parish’s patron saint, and learn about the tradition of the last Viking battle on mainland Scotland. The area is also linked to nearby Slains Castle, once associated with Jacobite spies.

A highlight not to miss is the chance to sample Dracula Salad, made to an original recipe created by the widow of Bram Stoker to help raise funds for the restoration of the church organ.

Activities:

  • Organ playing – Saturday afternoon
  • Talk: The Three Jacobite Countesses of Slains Castle by Mike Shepherd – Sunday at 2.30pm
  • Exhibits of local historical significance
  • Guided tours of the church
  • Children’s crafts
  • Floral displays
