Cairngorm Bothies

Nestled within a 100-year-old Scots pine forest in the Cairngorms National Park, Cairngorm Bothies offers a unique collection of off-grid woodland retreats. Recipients of Green Tourism's Gold Award, the bothies provide sustainable accommodation for visitors who want to enjoy the natural environment while minimising their impact on it.
Each of the 12 bothies is powered entirely by renewable energy and has been designed to demonstrate how sustainable tourism can work in harmony with the landscape. Set amongst native woodland, the site encourages visitors to connect with nature while learning about the importance of protecting the fragile habitats and wildlife of the Cairngorms.
During Doors Open Days, visitors will be invited behind the scenes to discover the story of Cairngorm Bothies, explore how the site operates sustainably, and learn about the environmental challenges facing the Cairngorms National Park. The tour will highlight the importance of conservation, responsible access and wildfire prevention in one of Scotland's most treasured landscapes.
