Bennachie Parish Church at Kintore

Built in 1819 to a design by the renowned architect Archibald Simpson, Bennachie Parish Church at Kintore stands on the site of an earlier medieval church and remains an important landmark at the heart of the town. The building incorporates several historic features from its predecessor, including a 16th-century Sacrament House and a 17th-century carved pew end, providing tangible links to centuries of worship on the site.

Inside the church, visitors can admire three notable stained-glass windows. Two were created by the distinguished Scottish artist Willie Wilson, while the third is the work of Gordon Webster. The church also contains four memorial plaques reflecting the history of the congregation and local community.

Surrounding the church is a historic graveyard containing a Pictish stone and several notable gravestones. The entrance gates serve as Kintore's War Memorial, commemorating those who lost their lives in the First World War. Visitors can also obtain a booklet detailing the names recorded on the memorial.

Today, as part of Bennachie Parish, the church continues to serve both its congregation and the wider community while preserving its rich architectural and historical heritage.
