A community led run-of-river hydroeletricity generator, generating up to 100 kilowatts of elelctrical energy from the flow of the River Don. See first-hand, the Archimedes Screw, the widest in the UK when it was installed in 2016. Have a look around the turbine house, and find out how electricity is generated.
Take a walk along the edge of the lade and across to our island, in an area that is steeped in industrial history, but which now harnesses the power of the river to produce clean, green renewable energy. Tours offered on request.
