Developed on a Pentland Hills steading, Little Sparta - the garden of Ian Hamilton Finlay - has been described as 'the only really original garden made in this country since 1945'. The garden displays numerous sculptures and artworks created by Finlay in collaboration with stone carvers, letterers and other artists and poets. The sculptures explore themes as diverse as the sea and its fishing fleets, our relationshipto nature, classical antiquity, the French Revolution and the Second World War.

In addition to opening their doors for free, the library will join in the Doors Open Days 30 celebrations with the launch of their new riverside heritage walk. The library will also welcome a botanical artist from Perthshire Open Studios into their newly refurbished old schoolhouse for the whole week! The library will also be putting on activities, market stalls, Roman Camp, hog roast and guided tours.
